
High-frequency on-line UPS is most suitable for IT, precision electronics and light-load nonlinear/linear loads, but not for large-impact inductive loads, heavy-load motors and strong harmonic equipment.
First, the most suitable load type (preferred)
1. IT and data center class (core scenario)
Servers, storage, switches, routers, firewalls
Small computer room, edge computing node, cloud terminal
Features: nonlinear load, high power factor, small impact, and extremely high requirements for waveform/voltage stabilization.
2. Office and business terminals
PC, workstation, notebook, monitor, printer, copier.
Financial system, POS/cashier, ATM, bank terminal
Surveillance camera, NVR, access control, weak current system
Features: light load, linear/weakly nonlinear, sensitive to power failure and space/noise.
3. Medical and precision instruments (light load type)
Monitor, ventilator, electrocardiograph, inspection analyzer
PACS server, medical imaging workstation, high-end display.
Not suitable for: CT, MRI, high-power X-ray machine (big impact)
4. Communication and network equipment
Communication base station, optical transmission, microwave equipment, broadcast/live broadcast equipment.
Features: compact space, complex environment, high reliability and low noise.
5. Industrial light electronic system
PLC, HMI, industrial computer, sensor, instrument, small controller.
Features: the power grid is relatively stable, without large motor impact and sensitive to interference.
Second, compatible but cautious load
Small frequency converter, servo driver (light load, gentle start)
Ordinary air conditioner, small water pump (non-frequent start and stop, power ≤UPS 30%)
Laser printers and copiers (single start shock, avoiding multiple simultaneous start)
Note: it must be used at a reduced rate (60% or less of the rated capacity is recommended) and the start-up impact must be evaluated.
Third, the load is not recommended/prohibited (easy to damage UPS)
1. Strong impact inductive load
High-power motor, compressor, fan, water pump, elevator
Industrial air conditioner, water chiller, large air compressor.
Features: The starting current is 5-7 times the rated value, and it has continuous impact and is easy to trigger overload protection.
2. Heavy nonlinear/harmonic load
Electric welding machine, electric arc furnace, large frequency converter, intermediate frequency furnace
High-power UPS/inverter parallel connection and large-scale charging equipment
Features: large harmonics, low power factor, continuous impact, and weak anti-interference ability of high-frequency machine.
3. Other taboo loads
Directly with transformer, reactor and large-capacity capacitor bank (easy to resonate)
Impact equipment that starts and stops frequently (such as cutting machine and forging equipment)
Unfiltered high-power rectifier equipment
Four, selection and loading points
Priority matching: IT/electronics, light load, linear/weakly nonlinear, and small impact.
Power matching: actual load ≤ 70–80% of ≤UPS rating, with reserved impact margin.
Special scenario: inductive/impact load is preferred to choose power frequency online UPS.
Mixed load: separate loop, high frequency machine only with precision electronics, and frequency machine for impact load.
